Visitor’s Pass

found a visitor’s pass
Calvary Hospital
room 419 ~ the room
where you lost your breath
and we held ours
staggered by this event
the staggering loss

February 11, 2009
all the memories flood back
held back only by an unlocked door
an unlatched screen door blown open
by the slightest breeze
all that was contained
is now exposed
our fears, our nightmares
lie just beneath the surface

the pass said return to front desk
we didn’t do that
as we didn’t return to room 419 …
it was once our home
not the best home, mind you
but you were there
and we still could see you

still could see you …
