The Girl In My Mirror

There’s a girl in my mirror,
And I wonder who she is.
Sometimes I think I know her,
And at times I wish I did.

There’s a pain in her heart,
And a story in her eyes.
I hear all of her laughter,
And her every whimper as she cries.

I wish I could take her pain away,
But it’s just too late.
Destiny has a course,
And it’s name is fate.

So many times I have wiped her tears,
And rocked her to sleep.
This time it’s bad,
And her pain runs deep.

My heart breaks more with every look,
But there’s nothing I can do.
I listen to all of the hateful things that come out of her mouth,
And I listen as she says she’s through.

She is so much better,
But settles for less.
One day she’s gonna snap,
Cause she can’t take the stress.

She has everything to lose,
But even more to gain.
She’s crying mad crazy,
But that’s just the temporary pain.

She’s been through the ferris wheel ups,
And the roller coaster downs.
All the real smiles,
And the even realer frowns.

She loves as hard as she cries,
But that is hard to comprehend.
To her love,
There really is no end.

There’s a girl in my mirror,
And I wonder who she is.
Sometimes I think I know her,
And at times I wish I did.

Do you think it could possibly be one of the best new poems of 2013?
