Light At The End Of The Tunnel

I have been putting up a good fight
Hoping, at the end of the tunnel I will see the light
Light please shine bright for me
Shine so I can clearly see.

You will be there, so I’ve been told
So where are you? Can’t you see I’m growing old?
Can’t you see I am tired? Can’t you see I am weak?
I have always been strong, now I can barely speak.

Promise me that you will be there
At least give me the comfort that you are near
I have been working so hard to see my light
But it seems there is no end in sight

All these years I’ve waited to see you
Still, for me, you are not coming through
I’m running out of faith, my heart is almost empty
After all, I am way past twenty

Do you know what it feels like being in the dark?
I feel like a dog who is unable to bark
I have being trying so hard. Can’t you see?
So light at the end of the tunnel, please don’t forget about me.

Do you think it could possibly be one of the best new poems of 2014?
