Prayer

Beneath the drapery of heaven
I knelt down
In adoration, I spoke my heart plainly and hopeful
The words escaped my frost- bitten heart
Bitter-sweet memories and hurts of the past
I said a prayer for you
Lest you know not
For divine protection for today and forever more
Flashes of hatred and lightening of hurt ran across right in my head
Questions up-heaved like waves in the ocean
Uncontrolled tears and my broken bleeding heart
Despite all, I said a little prayer
Though you seem so distant, Oh Lord
Your angels stringed my prayer, bead by bead
And carried it up above
To the throne of the mighty one
To the one who holds eternity in His hands
Hope revived
My joy survived
As peace embedded my heart
I knew my prayer had been heard
