Senseless

Senseless is to swim against the current
Allow your heart to feel hatred
To quench a thirst, that is never sated
Or use your fists as a deterrent
Senseless is to love what you despise
To accept that which hurts your heart
To find that you can’t depart
Due to issues of selfish pride
Senseless is your child to blame
For mistakes the parent has made
Pain is the price they pay
Like the moth does to the flame
Senseless is to defy your destiny
To hide that gift you were destined to share
Or to use it only to ensnare
Those that are victimized for eternity
Senseless is to show love for loves sake
To share the illusion at your table
To create a blissful fable
And burn their heart at the stake
Senseless is how a life is taken
Extinguished like a match in the blink of an eye
No one should be lost we all have our time
For the angel of death is never forsaken
