My Sweetest Sin

If you were the raging Sea
I would strand myself
in your forceful current
and become engulfed in your deepest blue-green

If you were the shining sun
I’d stare in your radiating beauty
as my skin becomes blistered
while my eyes start to numb

If you were a cigarette
I’d inhale every ounce of your harm
Every breath that I could take
would be of your carcinogenic charm

If you were a drug I’d let you
course freely through my veins
I’d trust you with the rhythm of my broken heart
as long as you can control the pain

If you were my past
the thoughts of you are no longer within
and all the emptiness that swallowed me whole
came from you, my sweetest sin
