It’s Because I Never Tried

I wish I was a ballerina
I newly had decide
That if I was a ballerina
I could take some pride

I wish I was a runner
I made myself believe
That If I was a runner
Then I truly had achieved

I wish I could sing a song
A beautiful song at that
But I can’t sing a beautiful song
Because there’s more to it than that

Determination, pride, and success
Were things I wish I had
I played the victim
Shed a tear
And let myself get sad

I cannot run a thousand miles
Or sing at concert C
I cannot be a ballerina
Or dance with two left feet

I feel shallow, worthless, good for nothing
I cannot take some pride
I am not determined or successful
but it’s because I never tried
