He Never Will

He drives me crazy
But I still have to love him
He asks but doesn’t tell
He borrows but never lends
He is there, but never, here
And I know he never will be
He fusses at my mistakes
Turns it into an ordeal
So I turn to others for encouragement,
Since I know he never will
I don’’t ask too much from him
Why bother my lungs for the breath?
I just leave them to regulate, no extra intake, for a wasted sigh
But when he talks, we all must know
His latest sob story or issue or excuse
I wish he’’d keep his problems to himself
But I know he never will
I don’’t want to care or worry
I want him to disappear
I don’’t really want to love him
But I know I always will
