Forgotten To Love

It was never you.
You who had the “perfect” life,
The “perfect” friends.
No, it was never you.
It was what you had done.
What you convinced me to believe.
You enticed me with your deep eyes
Into an ever downward spiral that most
Who experience it call love.
But this was anything but love.
This was a curse,
Our love which was never meant to be
Fueled by the incessant inner
Desire I felt for you.
The pain I endured in accepting that we
Were not meant to be has left me
Distraught in a sea of regret.
And all I can do now is hope.
Hope that some day,
I will have forgotten to love you.

Do you think it could possibly be one of the best new poems of 2013?
