Dear Mom

dear mom.
thank you for putting up with me.
you always let me stay with you.
even when I made all those very bad mistakes.

and thank you for ruining me.

dear mom.
thank you for working extra hard to feed me good food.
you skipped lunch almost every day to make sure I ate well.
I will always remember that you did that for me.

and thank you for telling me you hated me for it.

dear mom.
thank you keeping a roof over my head.
you paid an exorbitant amount of money to buy
a home that would sustain us.

and thank you for always telling me it was yours, and not mine.

dear mom,
thank you for letting me go out on my 18th birthday.
you let me spend as much as I wanted.
you gave me more freedom than ever before.

and thank you for telling me not to come back home when I was done.

dear mom.
thank you for teaching me all the lessons you learned in life.
all the tricks you picked up
and all the advice you could think of.

and thank you for never telling me what i wanted to know.

dear mom.
thank you for teaching me the logistics of life.
you always knew how to explain the world
in a way that i could understand.

and thank you for always saying that no one has ever or will ever about me.

dear mom.
thank you for setting an incredible example on how to be professional for me.
you always had me address you in a very formal manner.
and to this day it helps me speak respectfully to my superiors.

and thank you for never once telling me you loved me.

dear mom.
thank you for what you sacrificed for me.
your marriage, your career, you family.
you gave all that up so that you could raise me well.

and thank you for telling me it was my fault you were alone.
