Cold Blood

the faint glow of the moon
casting menacing shadows
as a steady frozen wind

brings life,

and death with it…

inhaling to survive,
ravaged lungs struggling
to exhale the lethal cold

fighting to keep a steady pace,
and forge a path to the fire
to breathe easy once more
