Armageddon Baby

I tattoo infinity over
the pulse in my wrist, and the ink and i,
we bleed.

It wasn’t your fault,
but I dreamed the end
of the world.

We held hands while the sky was falling;
you martyred my intent, I swallowed your shrapnel
in long sweet swallows
that left us raw and unrenewed.
We made love on the rooftops,
you kissed the apocalypse
from each of my fingertips. – don’t
worry, you whispered.

you’re prettier than the stars tonight.)
